I was born and raised in Bakersfield, California (I like to say it’s more like the Midwest than California) and attended college and graduate school in Colorado. Between grad school and medical school, I spent 6 years in the Navy’s Medical Service Corps as a faculty member at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD and as the director of the USN toxicology and drug screening laboratory just north of Chicago. I think I now qualify as a “local” to Chicago as I attended U of C for medical school, but more importantly married my wife, Tasneem, who is from the Chicago suburbs. I have two energetic young boys, Aidan and Adam, that keep me busy between hockey, soccer, and the preschool social scene. I’d list my hobbies but I can’t remember what they are other than being Dad. Oh wait, I did play tennis as a boy and in college and still try and get out on the court but nowadays it’s mostly with, wait for it…my sons. I am thrilled to get to know all of you and to work with the wonderful faculty here at U of C.
