Dr. Pari Jafari Wins Roger Haggitt GI Pathology Award

Dr. Pari Jafari, one of the current GI & Hepatic pathology fellows in our department, received an award from the Roger Haggitt GI Pathology Society (GIPS) for the best abstract presented at the just completed USCAP annual meeting in Baltimore. Her study, which was presented as a platform (see photo) with Dr Namrata Setia as senior author, was entitled: Correlational Analysis of p53 Immunostain and TP53 Mutational Events in Colorectal Neoplasia. Drs Alpert, Olivas, Tjota, Wang, Weber, Xiao, Yassan, and Hart were co-authors. 

This is the third year in a row that a GI & Hepatic pathology fellow from the University of Chicago Department of Pathology was awarded the prize for best abstract by the Roger Haggitt GI Pathology Society. In 2023 Dr Greta Evaristo won the award for her platform entitled: “Comparison of Inflammatory Changes in Anastomotic Biopsies from Patients with and Without Crohn’s Disease”. Dr Evaristo is now an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at McGill University. In 2022 Dr Beena Ashan won the award for her platform entitled “What is my N-terminus MSH6 antibody missing?” Dr Ahsan is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at Henry Ford Hospital.
