Mission Statement
The University of Chicago Department of Pathology is committed to advancing innovation and discovery in science, and providing unparallel medical care, while honoring an array of lived experiences and perspectives, advocating and supporting a culture in which inclusion is embraced and nurtured as a priority.
Our focus is not limited to individual identities, but to the plethora of ways our community shows up as scholars, researchers, learners, and administrators. Our members include our faculty, our staff, and our trainees. Our goal is to create a fair, diverse, and inclusive working environment that benefits not only the members of our department but also the University, our patients, their families, and the community we serve.
We believe that our ability to accomplish our goals is enhanced when other perspectives are heard and understood. We work together through continuous self-assessment, advocacy, education, and active creation of an increasingly diverse and culturally competent workforce to provide a nurturing environment to train, conduct research, and work.
