Message from the Residency Program Directors

Welcome to the Pathology Residency Training Program at the University of Chicago, and thank you for your interest! Our department is committed to providing excellent patient care while developing future generations of diagnostic pathologists, laboratory directors, researchers, and educators. Our training programs provide in depth exposure to all aspects of Anatomic and Clinical Pathology while offering flexibility and financial support for residents to pursue their areas of interest and passion, whether it be translational or basic research, international opportunities, or local community service. We are a close-knit department in which the trainees, staff, and attendings cultivate a collegial, inclusive, and open atmosphere. Our expert faculty members are known for being approachable and eager to teach, and provide abundant individualized mentorship and support. Our trainees are encouraged to participate in local, national, and international pathology communities through conference presentations, publications, and membership in a wide range of organizations and committees. We are very proud of all of our exceptional graduates who have gone on to pursue a variety of successful career tracks including academic pathology, community practice, and industry. We consider ourselves lucky to be situated in the beautiful, historic, and diverse Hyde Park neighborhood, just minutes away from thriving downtown Chicago.
