Medical Microbiology Fellowship

This ACGME-accredited one year Joint Medical Microbiology Fellowship offers extensive clinical and laboratory experience in a university clinical microbiology laboratory (University of Chicago) and a multi-hospital community microbiology laboratory (NorthShore University HealthSystem). Fellows gain hands-on experience in all areas of microbiology, serology, and healthcare epidemiology through a series of structured bench rotations, conferences, and independent research as well as laboratory management experience.  Trainees who successfully complete the program are eligible for subspecialty certification in Medical Microbiology through the American Board of Pathology (ABP).

Fellows obtain their training rotating thorough microbiology, immunology, and molecular laboratories at University of Chicago and NorthShore University HealthSystem (Evanston Hospital) and the Illinois and Chicago Departments of Public Health.
